I have finished one guitar with EM6000 with good results. I am working on 2 guitar right now; an L-00 style acoustic and a tele style electric. I have applied 4 coats per day (about an hour apart) with level sanding before the next day's session. Can you apply more than 4 coats per day? Thanks, Steve |

I regularly put 7 coats a day on using Target products and have been for many years. Having said that I spray very light coats. I know that some have had the blue cast effect with some waterbournes and IMO that is directly related to the application of too much lacquer in one session. If you spray light coats and build your finish slowly, you'll not have any problems. |

I've never used EM600 but what Jimmy says is also true for KTM waterborne |

I've done a good bit more than 4 in one day...!. I do like to wait about 1 hr in between coats. One thing that I'm doing nowadays is to measure the finish as it builds up on a piece of the tape that I've masked off the guitar with. I like to get around .007" of finish before sanding and buffing. If there is more than 1 day in between coats, I'll rough the last coat up with 400 grit before starting with new coats. Trev |

I have done several with Em 6000, I recently upgraded guns to a sharpe fx 1000 with a .1.4mm tip, which made a big difference in application of em 6000 , my most recent schedule is 3 coats one day, then 4 the next day , level sanded followed by 5 coats , level sanded , then 3 final coats ...level and buff... final thickness measuring the paint chips is .004 .... my preference is a max of 5 coats in one day....no reason to hurry the process.... also drop filling along the way works great.... |

What Wes says is about right for what I do with KTM-SV. 8 coats equals about .0035. 12 equals about .005. I do about 6 coats a day and begin the second day with 400 grit sanding. After final sanding you end up with about .004 on the top. That plus whatever you have for pore filler/sealer on the sides and back. Any thinner and Sand Through can raise its not so pretty head. |

I spray as many as I can in what time I have in the shop for the day. I spray thin, dry coats and my shop is pretty constant at an average of 70 degrees and 45%RH. I have probably sprayed 8-10 in one day with no problems. |

I spray wet coats and can get away with only 9 or so for a finished guitar. I don't do more than 3 a day. |

I generally shoot just 4 coats a day, fairly wet. But I have shot as many as 7 or 8, waiting 45 to 60 mins between coats. I find occasionally when shooting coats past 4 that I sometimes get micro bubbles in those coats. Ken |
